Adirondack Spruce:
Adirondack Red spruce was used for the tops on many of the great pre-war
(now vintage or collectible) American guitars. Many guitar makers today
believe that this wood is a significant contributing factor to the strong,
clear tone of those older instruments. Has a slight redish tint to it.

Redwood:
Redwood has a rich, reddish brown color. Warm tonal qualities. A good match
with rosewood, adds depth in the mids and bass tones. Available only

East Indian Rosewood:
The color ranges from red to light brown with golden streaks,
but more often runs to various shades of purple-brown (which
eventually oxidizes to a rich brown color). Great depth and

Myrtle:
Known as California or bay laurel, or Oregon myrtle, or pepper-wood,
it ranges in color from blond-yellow to taupe, and makes very
nice guitars. It has great projection qualities and offers a
bright sound. A cross between maple and rosewood. |

Califonia Walnut:
With its rich brown color and occasional black streaks, walnut
produces a striking instrument with a crisp, dry tone and a
strong fundamental. |

Big Leaf Quilted Maple:
Maple is the traditional wood for instruments of the violin
family, and is well known for its use in carved back instruments
as well as flat back instruments. It can range in color from
ivory, to pink, to tan. Bright, crisp sound with allot of highs

Brazilian Rosewood:
In 1991 Brazilian rosewood was placed on the endangered species
list. Only wood certified to be cut and exported from Brazil
could be done so legally. A much sought after wood for its beauty
and tonal qualities, its rarity makes it quite a bit more expensive. |
